CROPEX ownership and market coupling milestones
CROPEX was established on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool. The exchange is jointly owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator HOPS and the Croatian electricity market operator HROTE. The intraday market was launched in April 2017.
On 19 June 2018, following a joint project involving Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, the CROPEX day-ahead market was coupled with the MRC markets. The coupling was implemented via the Croatian–Slovenian border.
