Electricity traded on North Macedonia’s day-ahead market rose in June 2026, reaching 137,172.4 MWh, according to data from market operator MEMO. The total was up 45% compared with 94,654 MWh recorded in June 2025. The figures indicate higher activity on the organised power market.
Trading volumes also increased versus the previous month, with monthly volumes up by 9.6%. The average daily traded volume during June was 4,572.4 MWh. This points to stronger participation across the month.
June 2026 prices on the day-ahead market
The average market-clearing price in June 2026 was €93.74/MWh. That level was 4.5% higher than in May. Price movements were linked to broader regional conditions affecting Southeast European electricity markets.
Regional pricing remained supported by fuel costs, renewable generation variability and cross-border supply dynamics. The North Macedonian power exchange recorded a peak price of €60.1/MWh during the month. These figures describe the range of outcomes seen in day-ahead trading.
Role of the North Macedonian power exchange
The local day-ahead market has been developing alongside improvements in price transparency. It also provides a more structured platform for electricity trading among market participants. The exchange’s operation is tied to the country’s organised market framework.
North Macedonia’s electricity exchange was established in May 2023. Since then, it has increased its role in the regional power market by supporting greater liquidity, competition and integration with neighbouring electricity markets.
