Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange day-ahead segment
Electricity trading on the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange’s day-ahead market increased in August, with both volumes and wholesale prices rising from July. A total of 3.03 TWh was traded on the day-ahead segment. That figure was up 3% month on month and 20.6% year on year. Average daily volume reached about 97,586 MWh.
Day-ahead price levels for baseload and peak
The average baseload price climbed 28% from July to €143.15/MWh, compared with €111.74/MWh a month earlier. The reported average peak price was €111.15/MWh, up 44%. These changes reflect a higher price level across the day-ahead products reported for August.
Day-ahead participation and intraday continuous market activity
The exchange reported 155 registered day-ahead participants, unchanged from July. Trading activity also increased on the intraday continuous market. Traded volume reached 1.12 TWh, up 25%.
Intraday continuous weighted average price in August
On the intraday continuous market, the weighted average price rose 41.8% to €141.35/MWh. Together with the day-ahead figures, the data indicate higher liquidity alongside higher short-term electricity pricing in August compared with July.
