Third week of January: solar PV changes across key markets
In the third week of January, solar photovoltaic (PV) generation increased in the German and Italian markets versus the previous week. Germany recorded the largest rise at 77%, after two weeks of declines. Italy posted a 7.1% increase over the same comparison period.
Elsewhere, solar output fell across the Iberian Peninsula and in France. Spain saw a 13% drop, while Portugal declined by 23%. France experienced its second consecutive week of decline, down 14%.

For the week of January 19, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting’s solar energy projections point to higher production in Germany and Spain. The same outlook expects Italian solar PV output to decrease. The forecast is based on comparisons with the prior period referenced in the projections.
Week of January 12: wind generation declines across Europe
During the week of January 12, wind energy production fell across the main European markets compared with the previous week. Italy recorded the largest decrease at 56%, following four consecutive weeks of growth. Spain followed with a 52% decline.
France and Portugal also saw reductions, with decreases of 11% and 20%, respectively. Germany experienced the smallest fall at 2.5%. The German decline continued a second consecutive week of downward movement.
AleaSoft wind projections for the penultimate week of January
AleaSoft Energy Forecasting’s wind projections for the penultimate week of January indicate an increase in the Iberian Peninsula and Italy. Output is expected to decline in France and Germany. The expected direction in France and Germany extends the downward trend observed in the prior week.
