ALPEX day-ahead volumes rise in May 2026 across Albania and Kosovo

ALPEX reported that total traded volume in its day-ahead market reached 202.9 GWh in May 2026. The figure represented a 6.7% increase versus the previous month. Compared with May 2025, volume rose by 63%, according to the exchange.

Of the total volume, 137.6 GWh was traded in the Kosovo bidding zone. In the Albania bidding zone, traded volume was 142.7 GWh. Average market clearing prices were €89.6/MWh in Albania and €90.3/MWh in Kosovo.

The overall ALPEX average market clearing price stood at €89.95/MWh. The exchange reported a total transaction value of approximately €35.4 million for May. This corresponded to a 167.3% year-on-year increase.

ALPEX ownership and market participation

ALPEX was established in October 2020 by the Albanian transmission system operator OST and Kosovo’s transmission system operator KOSTT. Its first Albanian day-ahead auction began in April 2023. The exchange currently has 36 registered members across the Albania and Kosovo bidding zones.
