ALPEX reported that electricity traded on the day-ahead market reached 186.97 GWh in January 2026. The exchange said this was 10.9% higher than the previous month. It also marked an 89.5% increase compared with January 2025.
Day-ahead volumes by bidding zone
ALPEX data show that 123 GWh of the total traded volume was recorded in the Kosovo bidding zone. In the Albania bidding zone, 121.2 GWh was traded over the same period. The figures were reported as part of ALPEX’s January 2026 day-ahead market activity.
Market clearing prices and overall average
The average market clearing price in the Albania bidding zone stood at 93.54 euros/MWh. In the Kosovo bidding zone, the average market clearing price was 101.65 euros/MWh. ALPEX reported an overall average price of 97.15 euros/MWh.
Transaction value and year-on-year change
The total value of transactions on ALPEX in January amounted to approximately 37.3 million euros. The exchange said this represented a 24.7% year-on-year increase. The transaction value figure was reported alongside the day-ahead volume and pricing results.
ALPEX ownership, launch timeline, and membership
ALPEX was founded in October 2020 by Albania’s transmission system operator OST and its Kosovo counterpart KOSTT. The exchange organized its first Albanian auction in April 2023. ALPEX currently counts 36 members across the bidding zones of Albania and Kosovo.
