North Macedonia day-ahead trading volume rises in May 2026 with higher prices

In May 2026, the day-ahead electricity exchange in North Macedonia recorded total traded volume of 125,210.5 MWh. Trading activity increased by 45% versus May 2025, when 86,321 MWh were traded. Compared with the previous month, volume rose by 14%, according to figures reported for the market.

Market-clearing price and monthly movement

The market operator MEMO reported an average market-clearing price of 89.68 euros/MWh for May 2026. The average price was 2.1% higher on a month-on-month basis. The same reporting indicates that overall pricing remained relatively stable while conditions tightened slightly alongside the higher volumes.

Daily average volumes and peak pricing

On a daily basis, average trading volume reached approximately 4,039 MWh during May 2026. Peak electricity pricing for the month was recorded at 49.9 euros/MWh. The reported peak level pointed to lower volatility in peak pricing compared with overall market averages.
