Serbia day-ahead power price drops to €109.33/MWh amid wider regional spreads

Day-ahead electricity prices fell across most of Southeast Europe and Hungary on Wednesday, with Serbia recording the sharpest decline. Italy stayed close to €225/MWh, widening regional spreads despite broadly unchanged power demand.

On the SEEPEX market, Serbia’s baseload price fell by €69/MWh, or almost 39%, to €109.33/MWh, the lowest among the monitored markets. Hungary dropped by €15.90 to €160.65/MWh, while Romania declined to €162.70, Croatia to €162.74 and Slovenia to €167.29. Bulgaria settled at €153.31/MWh and Greece at €140.54/MWh.

Southeast Europe prices weaken while Italy stays near €225/MWh

Southern Balkan markets also moved lower, with Albania falling by €32.10 to €150.20/MWh. Montenegro dropped by €21.10 to €171.27/MWh, and North Macedonia eased to €153.63/MWh. Serbia traded at a €51.32/MWh discount to HUPX, while Montenegro held a €10.62/MWh premium over Hungary.

The Italian price was about €64/MWh above HUPX, maintaining a strong westward gradient in the day-ahead complex. The spread changes occurred alongside broadly stable demand levels across the region.

Serbia’s hourly curve shows extreme intraday swings

The decline in Serbia was reflected not only in the daily average but also in the hourly profile of SEEPEX prices. The market fell to around €5/MWh near hour 11 before rising to €246/MWh in the evening.

Serbia’s peak-period average reached €102.10/MWh, below its off-peak average of €116.50/MWh. Similar compression appeared in other markets, with Greece posting a peak average of €89.40/MWh versus an off-peak average of €191.60/MWh. Hungary recorded peak hours at €123.80/MWh, compared with off-peak at €197.50/MWh.

Solar output rises as wind stays steady in regional forecasts

A regional generation forecast pointed to higher solar availability, rising to around 7.52 GW, up about 1.67 GW from the previous day. Wind was broadly unchanged at about 2.09 GW.

The price moves were not accompanied by a material drop in overall demand expectations. Combined consumption across Hungary and Southeast Europe was forecast at 31.62 GW, effectively unchanged from the prior day.
