Electricity volumes traded on North Macedonia’s day-ahead market increased sharply in August, alongside a higher average clearing price compared with July. The market operator MEMO reported that trading activity expanded during the month. The figures cover exchange-based procurement on the organised market.
August trading volume and year-on-year growth
Total trading volume reached 199,699 MWh in August. This represented a 58.1% increase versus about 126,292 MWh in August 2025. Compared with July, volume rose by 32.8%.
Average clearing price and peak level
MEMO reported an average clearing price of €136.87/MWh. The average was up 29.3% month on month from July. The reported average peak price was €110.50/MWh, while average daily trading volume was around 6,442 MWh.
Organised market operations since May 2023
The increase aligns with the development of the North Macedonian organised electricity market, which began operations in May 2023. Higher participation in exchange-based procurement is reflected in the day-ahead trading results for August. The reported changes relate to transparent short-term price formation within the country’s power sector.
